Ok so when I went there, there was a lecture going on in the room and was blocking me from exploring, Even as I walked around the first part I was making a lot of noise and distracting the audience (was super awkward). I waited 45 mins for it to finish with no luck. So I only briefly explored the first room took in the works hanging up but didn’t get to see enough to effectively answer these questions. Will have to return or find another expo to go to?
- Start by selecting a few works from the ‘High Risk Dressing / Critical Fashion’ exhibition and document them in detail – description, compositional notes, context (refer to our discussion about doing a quick record in your primary research in week 1)
- Think about the works you have selected, and the exhibition themes, do they connect in any way with your own understanding of textiles and our relationship with fashion practice? How might the general public as an audience respond to the presentation of textiles in this manner? What is the focus here – the designer, the garment, the textiles, or something else? Can you see any linkages?
- How might you as an emerging textile designer respond to these concepts of presenting and communicating practice?
