I’m very pleased with the quality of my paper, for the first time in my life i finished it before it was due. Allowing plenty of time for my visual appendix and editing the paper.
The main issues I had with the paper was the length of the abstract in comparison to the paper, I found 500 words was far too much for the abstract. It almost repeated too much that was in the paper. I found the first paragraph of my paper (maybe a little bit more) was sufficient in outlining the themes of the paper rather than summarising every single paragraph in the paper. Which had to be done to cover the 500 word count.
Looking back on my abstract I can see it was poorly done. Although it was put together in a matter of days due to my time away. It didn’t allow me to get the books i wanted from off site storage in time to properly research. I got two books from off site which were absolutely essential for my paper, they were Lown (1990) and Hafter (1995). I had 4 key books for my research that I had rented for the entire semester, those were, Lown, Hafter, English (1969) and Helland (2007). I read all these books cover to cover and manged to put together an extensive list of notes and research. Part of those notes were submitted for the draft, which I had barely begin to write. But due to the extensive research I was able to put the entire paper together in a matter of weeks with time to spare. I’ve never worked this way before (even though i know its the best way to work) I usually jump in and rush my paper and find citations and reference as I go ( a terrible way to write, I know).
I believe this was because we were offered so many topics to pick from, something I’ve never seen before. In the past the class (high school and uni) would be given 3-7 topics to pick from. This way every one gets a chance to find a topic that really speaks to them and allows them to research more passionately and produce a better quality paper.
The only other comment I have is that I’m terrible at grammar and always have been.
