First meeting
After arriving on the agreed time we were welcomed with coffee and cookies, after a quick introduction we were then taken to the showroom to view a series of videos of the production of carpets and the various techniques involved. Notes attached.
Afterwards, we discussed when and how often we would meet. We decided it would be every Tuesday, 10am. However, there would be a 2-week gap for the Easter break. We decided on producing a mood board (1, but more was ok) to convey our approach to the brief and begin a serires of coroquis to show.
Additional details not included in the initial brief.
- one design needed to use ever colour int he design, this is so the machine could be strung up wthi every yearn.
- Stippling is the best approach to shading,
- Do not work for scale, as your computers/programs would not allow it.
- Placements should be large scale and be transitioning, remember to stick close to the brief images
- Colour matching: choose colour palette then match it back with their yarns
- limited bright colours
- thick textural, no solid colours
At the end of the project, we will get a small 40cm sample on the Kibi machine (Australian designed). Which creates the sample. The swatch will represent the colour and design, not quality.
