Learning how the different carpets were made was surprising more interesting than I imagined. I never new placement mats was done by hand. They were almost painted down using these handheld tools to press the yarn into the design. The sample machine being Australian made and designed was also neat, although noisy. Jack gave us a demonstration of how they fixed the yarn down to the flooring.
Vesna was incredibly supportive in our work and encouraged us to tackle what we drew up first, to get us in the motion of working fast. So there were not many revisions to our work. Lots of ‘that looks good, do it’.
In terms of software/photoshop skills, I did not learn anything new. Although, I did learn they worked in pixels (which is cool, cause I do pixel art occasional) and I learned that 1px = 5mm on the floor. I sat back through most of o the tutorials and helped the girls with their own photoshop issues. Even ran a tutorial on using masks again.
